AS9100 standardises quality management system requirements for companies involved with the aerospace industry and supply chain.
Adherence to this standard helps the Exact Group to focus on accountability for our key processes and set targets which drive the highest performance standards. We have adopted the Plan-Do-Check-Act philosophy into our ways of working, through which we continuously improve our processes.
The standard does so by building off general ISO 9001 standards for quality management systems, adding industry-specific guidelines for the safe development, production and distribution of quality aerospace parts and products.
AS9100 certification can be achieved by organisations in all levels of the supply chain to improve quality, cost and delivery performance. This is accomplished through the reduction or elimination of organisation-unique requirements, effective implementation of the quality management system and wider application of good business practices.
ISO 13485 is the medical device industry’s most widely used international standard for quality management.
Our achievement of this standard in 2020 compliments our well established AS9100 systems. ISO 13485 brings increased focus on documentation requirements, working environment and contamination control requirements. Through strict adherence to the medical devices standard, Exact can ensure that our parts meet stringent product cleanliness guidelines.

The generic route for companies entering the programme is with the accreditation of a Bronze award, before progressing to Silver.
Supply Chains for the 21st Century (SC21) is one of the largest supply chain improvement programmes in the UK’s aerospace sector. Managed by ADS on a national and International level, the change programme is designed to accelerate the competitiveness of the aerospace industry, by raising the performance of its supply chain.
The programme is based on companies following a framework to achieve and maintain set criteria within areas including: Business Excellence, Manufacturing Excellence, Relationship Excellence, and Quality and Delivery Performance.
The achievement of going directly to SC21 Silver is testament to the hard work and dedication of many within the Exact Group. This reflects the company’s commitment to excellence, dedication to best practice and high-quality manufacturing.
The Exact Group was sponsored through the SC21 programme by Collins Aerospace, which was instrumental in securing the company’s success.
The Exact Group gained the prestigious EFQM 5 star award in 2023.
EFQM recognition shows how well an organisation is performing against a globally proven management framework – the EFQM Model.
Companies can achieve different levels of recognition – from ‘Validated by EFQM’ through to being ‘7 star Recognised’ by EFQM’ or even winning the EFQM Global Award.
The EFQM Recognition process is carried out by independent EFQM Assessors. They review a company’s performance using the Model and offer tailored feedback throughout the process.
